"Mkeo amefariki. Rudi nyumbani kwako haraka sana" Hezron alimwambia Daniel katika simu.

"Mke wangu amekufa? Nini kimetokea? Amekufaje?" Daniel aliuliza huku akionekana kuchanganyikiwa vibaya.

"Daktari amesema ni shinikizo la moyo lililosababishwa na stress kali. Daktari na polisi wapo hapa nyumbani kwako. Njoo haraka" Hezron akaongea kidogo na akakata simu.

Muda anapigiwa simu na Hezron, Daniel alikuwa mtoko na mwanamke mwingine mrembo katika moja ya hoteli kubwa iliyoko maeneo ya Kunduchi. Alikuwa akifurahi nae huku wakinywa vinywaji ghali na chakula cha hadhi ya nyota tano. Lakini baada ya kupokea tu ile simu ya taarifa ya kifo cha mkewe, Daniel alichanganyikiwa, uso wake ukabadilika.

Hezron ni rafiki yake wa karibu.

Daniel akainuka na kuondoka katika ile Hotel akimwacha yule mwanake Mrembo.

Daniel akaenda alikopaki gari yake, akaingia, akaiwasha na kukanyaga mafuta, akaiondoa kwa kasi ya ajabu.

Akiwa anaendesha, Daniel akakumbuka jinsi yeye na mkewe anaeambiwa amefariki walivoenda pamoja Showroom ya magari na kununua hilo gari pamoja.

Akiwa anakata kona, akakumbuka jinsi alivyokuwa akimfundisha mkewe kuendesha gari. Hizo zilikua nyakati njema kabisa katika maisha yao ya ndoa.

"Mke wangu amekufa! Kweli mke wangu amekufa! Mungu wangu.." alilia sana huku akiendesha.

Akakumbuka siku ya ndoa yao. Agano waliloliweka pamoja. Akiwa anabadilisha gia, akaangalia vidole vyake asiione pete yake ya ndoa. Pete ya ndoa aliitoa ili kudanganya wanawake wengine kwamba hajaoa.

Daniel akakumbuka ni jinsi gani alivyokuwa akimjibu mkewe hovyo, kwamba anayo kila sababu ya kufurahia maisha na kuponda raha. Akakumbuka maneno ya kuchoma aliyokuwa akimwambia mkewe kwamba yeye amezaa na amezeeka!

"Mke wangu amefariki! Kwanini umefariki Lisa! Kwanini Mungu? Alijiuliza maswali lukuki.

Jibu likamjia. Akakumbuka ni nini Hezron alimwambia. Kwamba mkewe yawezekana amekufa kwa shinikizo la damu kutokana ma stress. Kwa hali hiyo Daniel nimemuua mke wangu.

"Nimemuua mke wangu mwenyewe. Mungu nisamehe…" alijutia huku akiendesha gari kwa kasi.

Daniel akakumbuka jinsi mambo yalivyoenda vibaya katika ndoa yake. Jinsi gani upendo ulikimbia katika ndoa yao. Jinsi gani walivyoanza mabishano na ugomvi. Takribani mara nne ameshampiga mkewe vibao. Alikuwa mtu mbaya kwa mkewe na kwa watoto wake wadogo wawili.

Mkewe alikuwa akilia, akipiga kelele mumewe arudi nyumbani, yote hayo ni kwa ajili ya kuokoa ndoa yake. Lakini mimi Daniel sikusikia. Sasa amefariki!

"Mimi nitafanya nini na watoto wangu?" alifikiria nafsini kwake. Watoto wawili alionao ambao alikuwa hawajali kwa sababu ya kuwa busy na warembo wa jiji la Makonda. Akakubali kwamba kweli mke wake alikuwa na moyo wa ajabu, kuwatunza watoto wale wawili bila msaada wake.

"Nani atanisaidia kuwalea? " Wanawake ambao amekuwa akila nao bata hawawezi kumsaidia kulea watoto, sio wife material wale, wife material hawezi kuvunja ndoa ya mwanamke mwenzake. Alifikiria nafsini mwake.

"Haujafa?!" Daniel aliuliza akiwa na mshangao

"Ndio hajafariki. Ila kama ukiendelea na hii tabia atafariki siku moja. Mkeo hajawa sawa kabisa. Amekuwa akijaribu kukutafuta na kukurudisha nyumbani ila umempuuza. Taarifa za kifo chake zimekufanya ukimbie kama mwehu. Ulitakiwa ukimbie kwa ajili ya maisha yake na si kwa ajili ya kifo." Mke wa Hezron aliongea.

Daniel akakaa katika kochi mbele ya mkewe na akamshika uso wake. Mkewe akarudishwa kichwa nyuma.

"Natumaini kwamba safari yako ya uchungu kuja hapa ukifikiri mkeo amekufa itakukumbusha ni nini cha muhimu kinachotakiwa kufanywa. Usisubiri mpaka uchelewe ndio ufanye jambo jema. Unayo nafasi ya pili." Aliongea mke wa Hezron
