Mwalimu Julius Nyerere alikuwa mwanasiasa hodari na kiongozi shupavu ambaye aliitawala Tanzania kwa kipindi cha miaka 24, tangu nchi hii ipate uhuru wake mnamo tarehe 9 Disemba, 1961. Alikuwa Rais wa kwanza wa Tanzania, na alikuwa na ndoto kubwa ya kuona nchi yake ikifanikiwa na watu wake wakiishi kwa amani na maendeleo.
